Objective: Question and answer game
This is a seemingly simple questions and answer game with a twist - the answers are tricky. Give hints and explain the grammar used so that students can better appreciate the answers. This game is reprinted courtesy of Norfolk Academy.
Instructions
1. Divide the class into two teams.
2. Give two points for every correct answer and reasoning to the following questions. Give only one point for a correct guess.
QUESTIONS
1. How many species of each animal did Moses take aboard the ark?
2. How many months has 28 days?
3. What is the value of coins dated 24 B.C.?
4. How many grooves does a 45rpm phonograph record have?
5. A camper leaves her camp, hikes 1 mile south, then 1 mile east where she sees a bear. Then she hikes 1 mile north to arrive at her camp. What color is the bear?
6. If a rooster lays an egg on the peak of a roof , will the egg roll to the left side or to the right side?
7. If a south bound electric train is traveling at a rate of 66 miles per hour and the wind is blowing to the north at 35 miles per hour, which way will the smoke blow?
8. If a plane crashes on the North Carolina and Virginia border, where would the survivors be buried?
9. Is there a fourth of July in England?
10. How many 2 cent stamps are in a dozen?
ANSWERS
1. Moses didn't have an Ark, Noah did.
2. All twelve months.
3. Nothing, a coin cannot not be dated BC.
4. One (spiraling) on each side.
5. The camp must be at the north pole, therefore the bear is white.
6. Roosters don't lay eggs, chickens do.
7. Electric trains don't blow smoke.
