Unit 2: Reading Comprehension

Most young couples nowadays like to date for several years before they decide to tie the knot. Traditionally, the man will ask permission from the womans parents before he makes a marriage proposal. He will then try to arrange a special date and pop the question the question to her. If the woman agrees, they will both wear the engagement ring as a sign that they are both engaged to each other. Traditionally couples like to hold their wedding in a church. People with less money can also decide to hold their wedding ceremony at the local registry office. On the day of the wedding, the bridegroom does not get to see the Bride until the ceremony begins.
A reception is usually held after the wedding, where a toast is made to the new happily married couple. Afterwards the couple drive off and get ready for their honeymoon and a new life together.
